Mary Margaret & Sam are a couple that appreciates the fine outdoors, particularly when it involves hanging out on the river. Sam, an avid fly fisherman, and Mary Margaret met through mutual family friends. They both grew up in Columbia, SC (also my hometown) and attended the same high school, but were a few years apart.
How He Asked
"Sam and I had decided that we were ready to move in together. We looked for a few months and couldn't find the perfect house. One Sunday, we were going to visit Sam's grandparents and drove past a great house that was for rent! We met with the owner and told him we were interested. We got approved planned to sign the lease. After signing the lease, Sam said, "Lets go by the house." So we drove over to the new house and had no keys, but started measuring the porch. Sam said he had a gift for me and pulled out a little box from his pocket. Sam is a fly fisherman and he had tied 12 different flies for our new house. He opened one of the boxes and got on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him!! It took me by surprise and of course I said YES!!!"
Mary Margaret & Sam, in the spirit of their love for each other and fly fishing, opted for a fly fishing themed engagement shoot. This past summer, we headed to the Saluda River, for a peaceful evening on the water. Sam and Mary Margaret versed me on some fly fishing techniques as well as the different types of species that were present in the area to catch. I am excited to capture their wedding this coming February. Enjoy these images from their shoot:
